Joey O'Donnell lived a hard twelve years, his body wracked with the pulmonary affliction of cystic fibrosis. Although often ill and in pain, he didn't complain about his condition and won the respect and love of friends and classmates for his ability to live his life with grace, calm and kindness to others.

In his eulogy, Joey's dad spoke of how, having a sick child, one always barters with God for more time, even another hour or a few minutes. Joey himself, however, had a different perspective on life than most people, calling the time we spend on Earth "only the blink of an eye."

Perhaps this is true. But sometimes a person, just by dint of character and example, can give to people far beyond his passing. That's what Joey did for his friends, and does now through the fund.
